Lechalade on Thames is one of the innumerable little towns and villages that makes up the Costwalds, an area of rolling hills in Britain between Bath and Stratford on Avon, which is where Shakespeare was born. Lechlade is situated at the highest navigable point on the Thames, and even today it remains a city with a lot of commercial activity. It's characterized by its magnificent bridges and very pretty Wool Church, which was named as such because its construction was financed with the proceeds of the region's wool trade.
