Latomia del Paradiso

Della Neapolis Archaeological Park is a great place to not only see the Greek and Roman ruins, but also to see the very impressive gardens. Upon entering the park the first thing you see is a beautiful, huge garden called the garden of paradise. This is a garden that is situated between limestone quarries and caves full of gaping holes. All the vegetation here is amazing. There all kinds of flowers and plants but the most beautiful are the olive and orange trees. These gardens were created when the caverns in the walls were uncovered, which was after the earthquake of 1693. Before, these cavities were buried by the earth.
