Las Empanadas de Delia
Venezuelans consider it a tradition to go to the beach to enjoy some empanadas as either breakfast or for a snack. They are made with corn meal and fillings ranging from the traditional cheese or stuffed shark to imaginative and forceful as the "back to life" which is kind of seafood salad or the "domino" with black beans and cheese. I wanted to try them all, so I ate several, and my favorite was the shrimp. Delia is a very friendly lady who from 6am started making the pies, that's why I always have to wait a little, but the wait is fun as it is shared with other diners and we get to watch Delia do her work in the kitchen .
