Largo do Chafariz de Dentro

O Largo do Chafariz de Dentro está localizado na baixa de Alfama, rodeado por edifícios habitacionais com vários restaurantes no rés-do-chão e pelo Museu do Fado, a sul. É um Largo antigo, terá sido construído no século XIII. Dele faz parte um chafariz, conhecido como "chafariz de dentro" porque esta zona da cidade ficava dentro da muralha então existente. E existia um segundo chafariz, no lado de fora da muralha, onde existia uma praia fluvial. Um seria o chafariz de dentro e outro o chafariz da praia! (Infelizmente, não foi possível ver nem fotografar o chafariz por motivo de obras.) Outro elemento importante é uma casa com a parede "recortada". Era o acesso, por escadas, à antiga muralha Fernandina. A muralha foi destruída, o acesso deixou de ter utilidade e foi transformado em habitação mantendo o desenho anterior. Este largo tem uma dimensão média e foi, em tempos, o Rossio de Lisboa (o largo mais importante da baixa de Lisboa).

The Largo do Chafariz de Dentro is located in downtown Alfama, surrounded by residential buildings with several restaurants on the ground floor and Fado Museum to the south. It"s an old Largo, it has been built in the thirteenth century. It is part of a fountain, known as "inside fountain" because this town was within the then existing wall. And there was one second fountain on the outside of the wall, where there was a river beach. One would be the fountain of inside and another fountain from the beach! (Unfortunately, I could not see or photograph the fountain due to works.) Another important element is a house with a "cut" wall. It was access by stairs, the ancient wall Fernandina. The wall was destroyed, access ceased to be useful and has been turned into housing while keeping the previous design. This broad is medium in size and was once the Lisbon Rossio (the most important off the downtown Lisbon).
