Lanquín

Lanquin is a small town in Verapaz, about a 3 hours drive from Guatemala City. Q'eqchi and Spanish are spoken, and it's a wet, mountainous region. It often rains in Lanquin, while the rest of the area enjoys good weather. You can camp, but it's not recommended due to the rain. The hotels are very inexpensive, less than 5 euros a night per person. They are clean and nice families operate them. There are two main attractions when you're in Lanquin, The Lanquin caves, and waterfalls of Semuc Champey. In Semuc you can camp at the park entrance, and climb to a viewpoint to see the blue waters that run through the jungle.
