Lamego Castle

Lamego Castle is a 12th century military construction that's located on a hill that overlooks the city, with great views of the Tower of Homage. You can visit the primitive walls by Porta do Fogo, or the Puerta del Sol, thus defining the structure of the wall that was closed when I visited. Asking a neighbor told us that opened Sunday morning. So there are some pictures taken right at the top of the hill and at the bottom of the city. Regarding the visitation schedule seems to open on Sundays from 10 to 12 hours per week from 14 to 16 hours.

In the upper quarter of the city, at 543 meters, is the castle of Lamego, listed as National Monument Portugal. It was built in the twelfth century, surrounded by a walled enclosure. Most notable is the Keep, crenellated over 20 meters high and quadrangular, which were opened some windows in the XVI to give residential use. Another notable element of the setting of the castle is the Cistern, located outside the walls of the main square, measuring 20x10 meters. Both the castle and the tank are closed to the public since 1976.

Castillo.

Castillo.

The tower has three floors that keep the wood floors, but everything else is gone, occupying the small space some information panels, which make the visit a little disappointing. Still, a short walk through the wall that bordered the interior space can enjoy great views of all the people.
