An ideal place

This is a man-made lake and beach in the Basque town of Senpere (Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle). It can get crowded in good weather. It's an ideal place to spend the day because there are picnic tables, forest, playground, lifeguard (in the summer), with the possibility for water sports and a zip line, plus a 4 kilometre hiking trail around the lake's perimeter. In the month of May (the first or second Sunday), there is a very important holiday well known in the Northern Basque Country called the "Herri Urrats". The lake is too small for the thousands of people who come from all over the Basque Country (on both sides of the border), even with organized tours. There are many activities for both adults and for children, like concerts, clowns, performances, artisan products, and bars. A good time is guaranteed (as well as road blocks). On our last visit we were surprised to see 2 pigs lounging in the garden. It seems to be the latest fashion.
