Lago Karakul

El lago Karakul se puede visitar como excursión de día desde Kashgar, aunque sea una paliza según el estado de la carretera (ida, entre 4 y 6 horas...). También se puede visitar y dormir en Tashkurgan. Karakul es un lugar mágico, pues este lago se encuentra bordeando el Pamir, en el final de la cordillera del Himalaya. A su alrededor se levantan majestuosos el Kongur (7.719 metros) y el Muztagata (7.546 m.). A pesar de que casi todos los tours suben hasta él para sacar la foto y regresar, es posible caminar a su alrededor, al menos, la mitad del lago más alejada de la carretera. Para hacerlo es necesario tomar una pista de tierra de 500 metros, hasta un pueblo kirguís. Desde allí sale un camino que lo rodea por su parte sur y suroeste. Una tranquila caminata de 2 horas que permite apreciar mejor la belleza del lugar y de las montañas que lo rodean. Hay que tomarse la marcha, totalmente plana por otro lado, con calma: estamos a 3700 metros de altitud, así que mejor ir poco a poco.
