La Purisima Mission State Historic Park
California was territory for religios missions. There are umerous place names of religious origin. All over the state you find old missions, ruins and neighborhoods such as San Francisco, called Mission. Founded in 1787, it is the eleventh of the twenty missions created in California, and is part of the original "Camino Real", a path created by Spanish missionaries in the late eighteenth century, from San Diego to Sonoma. Fray Junipero Serra, founder of the first mission established the main characteristics that were then exported to the ranches and mansions. One factor in the growth of this mission was the river, resulting in a large area.
