La Mansa

Punta del Este es una bellísima ciudad dentro del departamento Maldonado. Uruguay. Fue descubierta por Juan Díaz de Solís en 1516, su nombre es estrictamente geográfico por el lugar en el que se encuentra ya que avanza como una punta sobre el inmenso el Río de la Plata en su confluencia con el Océano Atlántico. Originariamente fue una zona de ranchos ocupados por marineros y empleados dedicados a la faena de los lobos y el traslado de los cueros y el aceite desde la isla Gorriti hasta el puerto ubicado en la punta y desde allí a Maldonado en carretas. Es uno de los balnearios más famosos de Sudamérica y combina actividades para todos los gustos. Sus variados paisajes entre sierras, bosques y kilómetros de playas con el agua del mar del color del tiempo, que hace ese día, como sucede en “La Mansa” y “La Brava” a las que habitualmente vamos. La península goza de la más selecta concurrencia todo el verano, la mayoría de turistas (cerca de 70%) son argentinos y el otro 30% se distribuye entre Brasil, Paraguay y visitantes de todas partes del mundo. Pasan por allí figuras de la Política, Música, Cine y finanzas internacionales. Tiene preciosas casas con maravillosos jardines y unos amaneceres y atardeceres realmente deslumbrantes. Un famoso Club El Cantegrill que da nombre a uno de los barrios residenciales más bonitos y en el que se disputa anualmente el torneo Artigas. Si bien la cantidad de gente que la invade durante el verano es enorme su actividad es constante durante el resto del año. No sólo vive mucha gente allí, sino que el tiempo en que parece aletargada se está preparando para el siguiente verano. Personalmente me agradan mucho más los lugares, sean de playa o montañas, fuera de la temporada porque todo es mucho más apacible y tranquilo. Permite recorrer, pasear, disfrutar de su puerto y visitar la gran cantidad de atracciones turísticas que tiene. Tuvimos la oportunidad de estar justamente allí cuando quedó varado, por un desperfecto eléctrico, el crucero Costa Romántica el 26 de febrero de este año y fue todo un inesperado espectáculo.
