La Antigualla

One of the most recognized tapas bars in Granada. As a matter of fact, they’ve opened another location called Antigualla II due to the success of the first place.

It’s worth stopping here for a beer because it’s in the perfect location (next to Nueva plaza). The decoration is interesting, the tapas that come with your beer are enormous and the atmosphere is loaded with everyone smoking (note: smoking has since been banned in Spanish bars/restaurants). It’s very, very small. I give it a 6 overall.

Great tapas (little dishes of food) that come free with each beer. Although with the type of tapa and order already established, you’ll have to stand at the bar, as the seats are almost always taken. Highly recommended.

PS: if you head up the same street, you’ll be able to find seats in Antigualla II.

I’m from Granada and I go all the time. Highly recommended.

The first tapa is a toasted cured jam sandwich with olive oil and oregano with potatoes and two salsas (delicious)! The second is a very good hamburger with a crab leg and olives.

I can’t say anything more because after just two tapas here, I’m stuffed! It’s great!

Great atmosphere with a lot of decoration. It tends to get packed at the peak hours of the day, which can be claustrophobic, seeing as it’s a small place. Despite this, I completely recommend it, as the tapas are big and good and you can have lunch just by ordering a few beers (as the tapas come with the drinks).

It’s in a great location, a few meters from the area with all the tea houses.
