Perfectly Preserved
Of Templar origin and dating from the 13th century, 18 of the 26 original towers of these perfectly preserved city walls are found in Jerez de los Caballeros. The contour of the wall measures 1.7 kilometres around with six gates (the de Burgos, Alconchel, Sevilla Nueva, Santiago and the Villa). Two of the gates are still present: The Puerta de la Villa and Puerta de Burgos. This defensive wall was built by the Muslims, but with the arrival of the Templars, it became the walls of the order.
