Kitahama Onsen

Beppu is famous for hot springs. The boiling water circulates underground. In the city of Beppu there are many but I liked this because it includes a pool. There's a bus stop on the route from Beppu station but you can have a pleasant 20-minute walk from there. This onsen is divided by sex in the areas where you have to swim naked. There are several little hot water "swimming pools" including a small outdoor one. It also has a sauna type area with a waterfall. What I liked best was mixed and the outdoor pool where you wear a swimsuit. It is wonderful. It has a large pool of warm water, a smaller hot water one and a kind of whirlpool which is very hot and has lots of bubbles.
