Kintla Lake is the largest lake in the United States to not allow motor boats, and boy can you hear it. This large lake sits at the very end of a very bumpy single lane road which claws its way up toward the Canadian border on the far northwest side of Glacier National Park. At the road’s end sits a campground, a few picnic tables, and a pebbly beach where you can drag your kayak into the water. The boating season is short here, and the swimming season is even shorter, but the views are grand and the solitude all-encompassing.
