A Mosque To Remember
With my 25 kilo backpack left the small Kazan hostel where I was staying and continued along the transmongolia route that I started in Moscow. At -19 ° C, and without being familiar with the city, I started walking and I was walking the streets randomly. After awhile, an old man told me which way to go to get to the Kremlin. Within minutes, the snow was almost waist deep as I was trying to reach the Qol-Sarif mosque at the top of a mountain. It was lovely to get to the wall and see the latest construction of this monumental complex. It had been a goal of mine. I enjoyed my walk around the Kremlin
Of Kazan Cathedral and enjoyed the towers of the citadel, but my best memory is the image of the mosque, brilliant blue shining in the sun as my frozen extremities took me closer in the snow.
