Monument to the Katyn Massacre
The monument to the Katyn slaughter is one of Poland's most popular tourist attractions. It's the place where the Soviet regime killed over 20,000 Poles, most of them Polish army commanders and were killed with a headshot. The USSR denied this for years and blamed the German army for what happened there. Now it's even more tragic if that's possible, since their President also died in a plane crash, as well as the highest military authorities, much of the government, the last president in exile and family of murdered there among others, when flocked to an act to commemorate the slaughter. In Wroclaw they remember this massacre by a statue with avenging angel looking at a woman holding a dead body with a bullet in his head.
