Katrine Lake
Loch Katrine is one of the most iconic lakes of the Trossachs Natural Park. However, there is no doubt the star of this park is Loch Lomond. The scenic beauty of this area make it the perfect place to spend a day in this lake, and has become a favourite location for visitors from all over the world. 37 meters deep and nearly 8 miles wide, its size and location are perfect to fill a day. Lake Katrine offers a different experience. There are a variety walking and cycling routes. Bicycle rental is available, as are the very in demand 1-hour boat cruise. However you choose to go you appreciate the small island of Ellen's.
It is the only one of the lakes from which it is said that the writer Sir Walter Scott went fishing whenever he was in the area. From the main view of the mountains you will see the top of Ben Lomond, which is the mountain range that separates the two lakes. This lake is a water reserve that directly supplies to the city of Glasgow. This gives you an idea of the enormous amount of water that enters the lake throughout the year (keep in mind that we are talking about one of the rainiest areas of central Scotland). In short, these are some of those classic corners of Scotland and in most cases they will not disappoint anyone, young or old ... a place that should be considered!
