typical whitewashed houses that are so photogenic with the intense light of Greece
When we arrived in Sifnos, we had been told that Kastro was the most charming village on the island. And yet we were surprised because we did not imagine just how beautiful it really would be. Similarly to many of the other beautiful villages of the Cyclades, Kastro is situated at the top of a hill, looking out to sea, and its origin lies in the Venetian occupation of the island. There you can see typical whitewashed houses that are so photogenic with the intense light of Greece. But the real novelty in Kastro is the absence of tourism. It is far from being the most visited island of the archipelago, and it allows you to meander through the streets peacefully, there are no souvenir shops and small crowds bustiling through the narrow streets.
