An authentic paella
Really spectacular! The paella we had that prepared for us by Jose Maria really tasted like Valencian paella. Cooked on firewood with quality ingredients, snails, a touch of rosemary and socarrat (the slightly burned crust of rice on the bottom of the Paella pan), it’s been a while long since we’ve had paella, authentic paella.
Perfect, the friendly service, the surroundings, the town, the food, the wine ... And if you want to sleep over, Jose Maria can offer you two cosy double rooms. For dinner we had chops, embutidos (Spanish sausage) and grilled rabbit, cooked just right, with aioli, finger licking good. The next day, we really did treat ourselves with a zarzuela prepared for us in a clay pot that we gave a good account of. The desserts were delicious, a tray of various homemade puddings, a seasonal fresh fruit fountain, in short, worth repeating.
