A Path Between Volcanic Domes

Excellent

The first part of the Las Manchas path follows the Camino de la Costa (GR 130) that goes until Fuencaliente, crossing many lava domes.

Afterwards, you reach the turning that goes down to the beach. The height difference is 800 meters. Here we find lava tubes. The black lava domes next to the green of the rest of the landscape forms a wonderful view. The area is not as exuberant as the one in the north of the island, but it is very green and it has many types of plants.

From the Jedey bar you continue on the main road towards the south following the GR 130, and turning to the right we take a parallel road.

After continuing for a while on the path LP-GR, the guide signaled the turn we had to take to go down to El Remo; but we saw no signs, only a mark left by foreign hikers, but where? The book talked about this but we could not find it and we got farther and farther away. We had to turn back, we finally found it: a cross, to the right, made of canes.
We were finally on the right track. This path is curious because it takes you to the edge of the precipice, and while you walk you wonder if instead of a path you have to jump in order to go down…and you look up again and you don’t know whether to go up again or stay with the goats, but the adventure awaits, so one must keep going. We saw many animals on the way that had died in very mysterious ways…

There is no difficulty at all for experienced hikers, one starts doubting because of the scenery and of not knowing where the path goes. But if you are in these magnificent lands, it is a nice hike that can be done on one afternoon.
