O Jardim do Palácio do Catete é uma atração à perte. Não é a toa que é, desde 1938, Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN). Ao passar pelo portão ao lado do Palácio do Catete, já é possível ver o corredor de enormes palmeiras imperiais, que leva o olhar ao chafariz que representa o nascimento de Vênus. Um lago com peixes, garças e patos ajuda a compor o cenário. Na ponte, havia idosos fazendo exercício físico bem lentamente. Nos bancos, pessoas lêem livros e jornais. Babás passeiam com carrinhos de bebê. Alunos se distraem enquanto o professor explica a história do lugar... A beleza paisagística do jardim é tamanha, que não pode ser alterada sem a autorização do IPHAN, ainda bem...

O Palácio do Catete é um dos principais pontos turísticos do Rio de Janeiro, principalmente para quem quer conhecer mais história política do Brasil. O local foi sede do governo federal até os anos 60 e faz parte da história do país por ser a residência e local da trágica morte de Getúlio Vargas. Atualmente o local abriga o Museu da República e tem em seus jardins um dos pontos mais bonitos do palácio. Os jardins ocupam a parte do terreno e abriga pontos, grutas e árvores de diferentes tipos. Como o local é aberto, é normal encontrar pessoas caminhando e aproveitando os dias de sol nos bancos do parque. O jardim é um dos mais belos da cidade e, desde 1938, faz parte do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN).
