Jaguar Temple
For the Maya, the jaguar was king and lord, so Temple I, in the central square of the city of Tikal, adopts the name Temple of the Jaguar. It is a ceremonial funerary temple, built in 700 AD by the Mayans. It is 45 meters high and awesome. It has a pyramid shape, stairs and 9 terraces extending from the base to the top.
