Cruzeiro da Independência

This cross is located in the Marques de Pombal gardens, next to the gas station and tourist office. Opened in 1940, it was built entirely of granite by local stonemasons. It was designed by Father Aurelio Martins de Faria, and pays tribute to the historical independence of Portugal.
