Inca Rail is a Peruvian company, established in late 2007 to make the tourist journey from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. The trains are quite comfortable, and all have panoramic windows from which you can enjoy the scenery during the journey, there are also windows in the roof. The staff are very friendly, and happy to inform you at all times. During the trip they offer tea and pastries (all of which are made with natural products).
We were a group of 8 women who boarded a van in Ollantaytambo. During the trip, our driver showed a lack of caution and concern for our lives on numerous occasions. He attempted to pass in front of other cars, vans and buses, entered the opposite lane of traffic and seeing that the cars were approaching us, he had to divert dangerously towards the original lane. He drove very fast, often taking curves above the dictated speed limit. Around about 5:30, our driver had just turned a curve and we saw a car stopped behind another inca rail van. Our driver did not pay attention, and could not decrease his speed, and we quickly approach stopped cars. The car behind the other truck came out of the lane and our van crashed into the van in front of us, propelling us all forward until we hit the seats in front of us. Both Inca rail drivers failed to report the accident and continued driving although we all suffered injuries and discomfort from the accident and whiplash. We were forced TO REPORT THE CAR ACCIDENT OURSELVES and WAITED HOURS to be taken to a clinic that provided us with antiquated and incompetent medical care. This company is negligent, irresponsible and careless with their passengers.
