Da Leonardo alla Formula Uno
Per orientarsi nel centro storico di Imola, è ancora possibile utilizzare senza molte difficoltà la famosa mappa che Leonardo da Vinci disegnò nel 1502. D'altra parte l'impianto urbano è ancora fondamentalmente quello dell'accampamento militare romano, il Forum Cornelii, costruito in prossimità del punto in cui la Via Emilia attraversa il Santerno. Il Decumano massimo, ancora oggi la via Emilia, incrocia il Cardo massimo (via Mazzini e via Appia) sotto le volte della torre dell'orologio, vero ombelico della città. Dal Rinascimento ad oggi, l' "addizione" più significativa al territorio del comune è rappresentata probabilmente dalla realizzazione dell'Autodromo dedicato ad Enzo e Dino Ferrari, il "monumento" che più di tutti ha reso il nome di Imola celebre nel mondo. Letteralmente ad ogni ora del giorno, come si può vedere anche dalle foto, che non hanno richiesto molto più tempo per essere fatte, è possibile imbattersi in qualche segno che testimonia questa vocazione motoristica della città. Gli altri monumenti del centro sono: la Rocca dove, assieme a quella di Forlì, Caterina Sforza cercò invano di resistere alle mire espansionistiche del papato guidato dai Borgia. Il rinascimentale Palazzo Sersanti, fatto costruire dai Riario, ambiziosi nipoti di papa Sisto IV Della Rovere, rivali dei Medici e dei Borgia. Il Duomo, un chiesone settecentesco emiliano. E il complesso del convento e della chiesa di San Domenico, oggi convertito in museo. In un angolo della piazzetta dietro le absidi si trova, infine, l'omonimo esclusivo ristorante (due stelle Michelin).

The Renaissance Palazzo Sersanti, built by Riario, ambitious nephews of Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere, rivals of the Medici and Borgia. The Duomo, a century Chiesone Emilia. And the whole of the convent and the church of San Domenico, now converted into a museum. In one corner of the square behind the apses is, finally, the eponymous signature restaurant (two Michelin stars).
