1 review of Iman Khomeini's Mausoleum

Meditating in the Jomeini Mausoleum

One of the first places I visited on my trip to Iran was the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, which as you may know was the founder of the Islamic Republic. It is situated on the outskirts of Tehran, but it is very easy to get there by metro (yes, yes, it works very well, and it is very safe). Lots of people usually gather there both during the day and also at night, whole families go there together to have something to eat. You can enter easily (it is enough for women to cover there hair with a scarf), and inside, although it is not particularly architecturally stunning, you can relax watching people praying, talking or just resting.

It is the good thing about some mosques, that they are spaces for personal reflection, not only for ceremonies, allowing you to enjoy the place at your leisure. There are drinks and food stalls outside. I found a giant inflatable Mirinda bottle in a gift shop. Hahaha, it was a good story to tell.
