Igreja Matriz de Melgaco
At first it was known as the Church of Santa Maria de Porta, for being next to one of the gates in the wall of the Melgaço Fortress . Currently the Romanesque church of XII century, has had many reconstructions and is in one of the main arteries of the historic. The door has two series of columns, we find the capitals decorated with plant motifs. The side door has a pointed arch vault, which supports 2 consoles, which support a tympanum with a figure of a lion. Inside, the left side there is an altarpiece from the late 16th century made by Antonio Figueroa.
