Iglesia Reformada

La Iglesia Reformada de Kecskemét es uno de los templos más importantes de esta ciudad al sur de Hungría. Se encuentra justo entre la Plaza de la Libertad (“Szabadság tér” en idioma húngaro) y la plaza central (conocida como “Széchenyi tér”). Fue construida entre los años 1680 y 1684 y es uno de los más importantes ejemplares del estilo arquitectónico “Copf”, que se caracteriza por ser una mezcla entre el renacimiento tardío y el barroco. Edificios similares se pueden encontrar por todo el sur de Hungría e incluso el norte de Serbia. En el año de 1911, un extraño, pero poderoso terremoto sacudió la ciudad de Kecskemét y dañó severamente la estructura de la iglesia. Durante los siguientes años, los arquitectos Károly Uly y László Takáts se dedicaron a restaurar el edificio conservando su estilo original. The Reformed Church of Kecskemét is one of the most important temples of this city in southern Hungary. It is located right between the Freedom Square ("Szabadság tér" in the Hungarian language) and the central square (known as "Széchenyi tér"). It was built between 1680 and 1684 and is one of the most important examples of the architectural style "Copf", which is characterized as a mixture between late Renaissance and Baroque. Similar buildings can be found throughout southern Hungary and even northern Serbia. In the year of 1911, a strange, but powerful earthquake shook the city of Kecskemét and severely damaged the structure of the church. During the following years, the architects Károly Uly and László Takáts dedicated themselves to restoring the building while preserving its original style. More recently, in 1998, we added the watches that we can now see on all four faces of the temple tower. Since it is located between the two most important and central squares of the city, this temple should definitely be on your list of places to see during your trip to Kecskemét.
