Arrochar Parish Church
Next to the church today are two places worthy of mention, the historic cemetery and the remains of the old church. Regarding the latter, the lack of historical documentation makes it difficult to know when it was created. However, we can assume that it was an ancient place of worship when the town was founded in the Celtic era. The church that stands before us today was created by the Church of Scotland during the XVII century (to whom it still belongs)after the Religious Reformation which took place during the XVI century. Since ancient times this was used as a burial place for the local MacFarlane clan.
From what we found in the cemetery the most notorious tombs belonged to this family. This is a typical rural churches, it is small, with a central tower (campanile) in the main entrance and the wooden headliner. As I said, it is fully operative and is one of the most emblematic and historic village of Arrochar.
