Church of Santo Domingo

Situada en un lateral de la Plaza de Armas, la Iglesia y ex Convento de Santo Domingo de Guzmán fue levantada por los Dominicos en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, aunque mezcla tres estilos: gótico, renacentista y neoclásico. La iglesia tiene planta basilical de tres naves, con arcos en los muros intermedios y techumbre a dos aguas. Lo más sobresaliente es su campanario (al que se puede subir), que alberga una de las campanas más grandes de México llamada "Santa Teresita". El ex-convento dominico anexo conserva los restos de sus habitaciones y dependencias en torno de dos patios; y actualmente alberga el Centro Cultural y el Museo de la Laca / Casa Escuela de Tradiciones.

Located on the side of the Plaza de Armas, the Church and ex-convent of Santo Domingo de Guzman was built by the Dominicans in the second half of the sixteenth century, but mix three styles: Gothic, Renaissance and Neoclassical. The church has a basilica with three naves, with arches in the intervening walls and gable roof. The highlight is the bell tower (which you can climb), which houses one of the largest bells in Mexico called "Theresa". The former Dominican convent annex contains the remains of their rooms and units around two courtyards, and now houses the Cultural Center and the Museum of Lacquer / House School Traditions.
