Basilica Virgen del Valle

La Basílica Menor de Nuestra Señora del Valle fue declarada con este título por el Papa Juan Pablo II en 1995, pero su historia se remonta a los años 1500 y se dice que fue la primera iglesia construida en la isla de Margarita. Esta iglesia guarda la imagen de la milagrosa Virgen del Valle, patrona del oriente del país. Cada año se congregan miles de personas para venerarla. Esta es una parada obligada cuando vienes a Margarita. Es muy curioso ver figuras de casitas dentro de la iglesia, dice la gente que entre los tantos milagros que concede la virgen pues está el de conseguir casa a muchas personas... alrededor hay puesticos para comprar recuerdos como rosarios, imágenes y escapularios. Viene gente de toda Venezuela a dar gracias por los favores concedidos por la Virgen del Valle cada año.

The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Valley was declared with this title by Pope John Paul II in 1995, but its history goes back to the 1500s and said it was the first church built on the island of Margarita. Cuando llegamos, vi que la iglesia era pequeña, no había mucha gente, pero a la hora llegaron muchos buses de turistas y nos tropezábamos porque el lugar era pequeño para toda la gente que llegó como hormiguero, recuerdo que a mi amiga Anita no la dejaron entrar en la Iglesia porque tenía shorts y franela escotada, fue de mal gusto, pero respetamos la cultura de cada lugar.
