A fun adventure
We had had fun going to Rome last year, everything arranged at the last minute, and we decided to have another adventure, but this time in a larger group. So we suggested going to Ibiza in the first weekend of July. At first I thought it was just going to be one of those pipe dreams that you never actually get around to realizing, but it became a challenge! In fact, we left everything to the last minute again, and found ourselves on Thursday at 20:30 confirming that we'd be leaving by boat the next day at lunchtime, and returning on Sunday afternoon.
We found a hotel at the last minute, and we really got lucky. The hotel staff were so efficient but also so friendly and warm - I've never seen a team work so well together in all my years of travelling. You might find a nice waiter in one hotel, or a good receptionist in another place, but here everyone works together perfectly. The hotel has maintained its three stars, and has improved its facitilites year after year. It went from being a typical stag party hotel to what it is now - fantastic. The beach is not spectacular, but it is clean, it has sun loungers and parasols, and it's just below the hotel. There's a little dock where you can take a boat twice a day to Formentera, and there's a salt water pool with more sun loungers and parasols, as well as a large snack bar with a terrace, and delightful views.
The dining room is another treat, particularly if you get a table overlooking the sea. The breakfast and dinner buffets are generous in quantity and quality. In the streets around the hotel, you can find everything you could ask for - a pharmacy, parking spaces, car and motorbike rental, gym, bars, cafes, supermarkets, hairdressers, newspapers and tobacco, etc.. In front, between the sand and the hotel, there's a magnificent promenade full of terraces and restaurants, some worth mentioning. I do not know exactly the distance to the centre of Ibiza, but it was about ten or twelve minutes walking, and the hotel is well-connected to the other towns. By the way, pets are allowed. To the staff: Thank you for your dedication and professionalism. I always recommend you to family and friends.
