On top of the World
This spectacular ridge top on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula is the only place you can drive and see the summit of elusive Mt. Olympus. Perched above Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hurricane Ridge is an easy 17-mile drive up to amazing views and great hiking.
It's also drivable year-round. In the winter bring your skis or snowboard (albeit not a resort). Peer north down to the Strait and across to Vancouver Island. To the south look deep into the wild and craggy Olympic Mountains in Olympic National Park. Hint: in the summer do your best to avoid the mountain
