The oldest university in the city

Humboldt University is the oldest university in Berlin and was founded in 1810 (quite late compared to other European capitals) by Wilhelm von Humboldt who was born in Prussia and it's located at the end of the prestigious Unter den Linden. It became operational with 250 students studying theology, philosophy, law and medicine and the university formed some great men of the country. With the Nazi government it was transformed into a Nazi education center and 20,000 library books were burned. To commemorate this sad event, in front of the university there's a hole in the ground with empty shelves,

By day it's a bit difficult to find (look for groups of people looking at the ground), but at night it's lit.
