Landmark home
A landmark, fifteenth century home on one side of the Cathedral of Viana, in a cul-de-sac between the Cathedral Museum and the Museum of Traditional Goldsmith. It's also known as "Casa dos Velhos" as it was the residence of João Velho, the town's illustrious navigator known for his expeditions to the Congo. It's most notable feature is the great stone arch of 140 degrees made in a trace on the ground floor that is a National Monument. The headquarters of the Association of retirees and pensioners of Viana do Castelo is on the 1st floor.
