Houmt Souk

Aaah le Souk, c'est le marché typique des pays arabes! Quel bonheur pour moi de me balader et d'acheter en marchandant! On revient avec plein de choses! Evidemment ça ne plaît pas à tout le monde, ce que l'on peut comprendre puisque de nombreux tunisiens se ruent sur vous pour essayer de vous vendre quelque chose au meilleur prix. Vous trouverez toujours des souvenirs pour vos proches et vous, et tout ce qui est typique tel que des des babouches en cuir ou strassées, de la vaisselle, des djellaba, des aliments typiques comme les olives marinées, la Harissa, l'huile d'olive( très très bonne), les gâteaux arabes etc. Parler arabe est un plus pour marchander, c'est normal nous sommes dans un pays qui parle l'arabe et le français couramment. En tout cas j'ai bien aimé m'y balader, mais je vous conseille d'y aller tôt le matin , comme je l'ai fait, car il fait une chaleur étouffante surtout que tous les touristes y vont en même temps, l'après-midi il vaut mieux se baigner! Sinon, vous pouvez vous rafraîchir dans un café ou ils servent la limonade tunisienne: Le Boga!

Aaah the Souk, the typical Arab market! What a joy for me to linger and buy haggling! It comes with lots of things! Obviously it does not please everyone, that we can understand as many Tunisians flock to you to try to sell you something at the best price. You will always find souvenirs for your family and you, and all that is typical of such as leather slippers or strass, the dishes, jilbab, typical foods such as marinated olives, harissa, the oil Olive (very good), the Arab cakes etc.. Speaking Arabic is a bargain for it's normal we are in a country that speaks Arabic and French fluently. Anyway I enjoyed myself walk, but I suggest you go early in the morning, as I did, because it is stifling especially as all the tourists go there at the same time, In the afternoon it is better to swim! Otherwise, you can refresh yourself in a cafe where they serve the Tunisian lemonade: The Boga!

Houmt Souk est la capitale administrative de l’ile de Djerba. Son nom signifie « quartiers du marché ». Elle compte environ 44 000 habitants. Elle est située au Nord de l’ile, distante d’ une vingtaine de kilomètres d’Ajim, au sud (point d’arrivée sur l’île par bac) et d’El Kantara (point d’arrivée sur l’île par la chaussée romaine).
