HI San Francisco City Center is a hostel in downtown San Francisco that's a good choice for those on a budget. It's in the Tenderloin district, which is not a great neighborhood, but the hostel itself is top notch. It's a former hotel converted into a dorm-style hostel with 4-bed shared rooms and a few privates. Everything is clean and comfortable, and sheets and towels are provided. Breakfast is free and is stuff like bagels, fruit, jams, tea and coffee. $24.00 per night in winter. A really good deal!
