Homorod
Homorod is a village in the region of Transylvania, famous for its Saxon fortification. It's a quiet country town but it is an important center for the region and has amenities such as a supermarkets and shops in the downtown area. Homorod's first inhabitants came from Belgium and settled in the prairies in the twelfth century. Following this, came some Germanic people and, probably in the thirteenth century, the Evangelical Lutheran church. The Saxons, seeing the liklihood of an invasion, built the church around a fortified defence, which could accommodate all of the people in an emergency. The fortified churches in Transylvania are registered UNESCO World Heritage sites.
