Hội An Address

48 reviews of Hội An

World Heritage

This city is located in the center of the country. Its historic district is a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, and French influences and has been declared a World Heritage Site.

One of the most interesting places to see is the 17th-century Japanese Bridge, an icon of Hội An (it's actually depicted on Dong bills). It's a reddish wood and stone covered bridge that's also home to a Vietnamese temple. It was built to link the traditional Japanese and Chinese districts of the city.

The banks of the Thu Bồn River are always bustling and full of shops and restaurants.

There is a very well-kept walkway on the right side. The atmosphere is great at night: there are people out for a walk, getting some fresh air, visiting the markets, and selling colored lanterns. Our visit coincided with the full-moon celebration so the area was especially lively.

A romantic city

During our tour of Vietnam, one of our stops was Hội An. What a surprise! We had only planned to stop there since it's close to one of Vietnam's main silk factories, but we were amazed. It's a very romantic and bohemian city that has charm in spades.

You have to explore the main street; it's full of charming shops, traditional homes, and artists. The city was experiencing some flooding when we visited but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. We hired a man with a boat and he gave us a tour of the town.

If you’re interested in silks, the ones here are beautiful. They even make bespoke dresses overnight. There are also stalls in the market where they'll make custom shoes in only a matter of hours. You choose the style, fabric, and color and then bingo!

Don't miss it!

Hoi An is one of the most peaceful and pleasant villages of Vietnam. It is commonly called the people of the Tailors because for a few dollars you can get prom dresses, tailored suits and even wedding dress in a unique silk. Near the river, on the banks of bridge routes the Japanese market is one of the best restaurants we have visited in Vietnam. Called Cafe des Amis offers daily menu. Personally the best by far is the meat and eat a menu with plenty of 2 people since several dishes with enough quantity. A curious thing to see are the ferries that use the Vietnamese to cross the river, are motor barges that within three minutes are filled by hand bikes and people. A very nice trip from Hoi An to make and more or less $ 5 per person is the excursion to the ruins of My Son, ancient Cham civilization that lived in Vietnam for centuries. Another nearby place to visit are the Marble Mountains. In this case it is best to rent a motorbike in Hoi An, never for more than $ 5 a day, and go visit the mountains. Personally I left much to be desired as it is superexplotado and access is horrible.

The most beautiful city in Vietnam

La ciudad más bonita de Vietnam

Excellent
They say that Hoi An is the most beautiful city in Vietnam, a place anchored in time that has managed to keep the same appearance that it had centuries ago, back when it was an important commercial port. Expectations were very high but being so tourist, we were afraid that it was not so much and even that we did not like it. Well, no. Hoi An is more beautiful and fascinating than we could believe and not only for its more than 800 historic buildings perfectly preserved, but also for its relaxed atmosphere; by its artisans who are reluctant to abandon their trades; for the exquisite cuisine; or for your mystical energy when night falls. Yes, Hoi An fell in love with us and surely will do it with anyone who decides to visit it. Two days went through each of its corners, carrying as a memory dozens of postcards and moments that have been recorded in our memory. I think there is no better summary of the city than doing it in a photographic way.

Has it all

Lo tiene todo

Hoi An nos sorprendió.
Hoi An surprised us. Although we consulted guides decan is a picturesque place, we never imagined how beautiful it is. We greatly enjoyed their shops filled with antiques pedestrian streets; We walked in bicycle; We ate at fabulous restaurants and spent one day on a great beach. Hubiramos wanted to stay a couple of days more, but it tenamos Prximo reservations in our destination, so I suggest travelers consider about four nights minimum in order to enjoy not only the city but its surroundings (beaches and golf). The majority of tourists fail one of the most popular industries in Hoi An, for their fine detail and professionalism: the confeccin clothes (dresses, suits, etc.). The sunsets are truly beautiful, either from the beach or from the bridge of the city. There is a huge variety of restaurants and houses t, but also street entertainment every night (music, theater, bars, cafes). It is a quiet town, but alive at a time.

Located in the heart of the country, not far from the imperial city of Hue, the city was in the sixteenth century, one of the main ports in Asia. Most of the buildings have been well preserved, and the city today has a certain charm. There prevails a very special atmosphere, especially at the end of the day when you walk along the river that flows peacefully in the center of the city. In addition, the city center is full of small stalls all over cute as each other, allowing you to discover an original Vietnamese handicraft and excellent quality. Finally, Hoi An is a city known worldwide for its tailors custom clothing, so please enjoy!

A city as

Mix of Japanese, Chinese and European influences, Hoi An experienced its years of greatest splendor in the XVI century. Many Chinese and Japanese settled here, and each community had its own laws and governor. A mid-eighteenth century the Japanese community waned, and on the other hand, China was gradually growing and thriving. Shops, wooden houses and temples detached from those days are still occupied by the descendants of those traders. Most of the old part of the city is dotted with houses with roofs and brightly colored exterior, and stroll through its streets is a visual and photographic delight. Moreover, the cuisine of Hoi An and part point deserves as it is recognized throughout the country for its quality and variety, can put the perfect finishing touch to your day by dining in any of its cozy restaurants.

Between river and historic houses
