Basalt Formations
Hljódaklettar ("Eco Rocks" in Icelandic) is a set of volcanic formations that date from 8,000 years ago. It's 8 kilometres south of the mouth of the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon, in Jökulsárgljúfur National Park. This park is in the northern belt of Iceland. You can find hexagonal basalt formations there and many natural lava formations among which the Kirkjan (the church) is a highlight, and was also formed by basalt columns.
