Hermitage of the Virgen de la Blanca

The Shrine of Our Lady of the White, or Ermita de la Atalaya, is on the promontory of the same name, near the cemetery and the Luarca Lighthouse. The path leading up to the chapel, on the road to the lighthouse, is truly amazing. It's secluded and very white on the exterior. Within the interior, the polychrome sculpture highlights the 15th century depiction of St. Anne, the Virgin and the Child, popularly known as the White Lady. According to the legend, fishermen found it in an underwater cave.
