Sugared chestnuts, presented as chocolates
Hédiard is a luxury delicatessen whose flagship store is on Place de la Madeleine, in the 8th district of Paris. It was founded in 1854 by Ferdinand Hédiard and is older than its main competitor, also in the same square, Fauchon. They now have stores worldwide and high quality products adorned with the black and red colors of the brand. Hédiard's specialty, and what made it famous, are exotic fruits such as mango, banana and coconut. At this time such things were not eaten in the French capital, nor heard of! Hédiard presented them in syrup, sugar and fresh. The store also has an incredible selection of teas and coffees from around the world, sold by weight.
