Haputale Train Station
Railway stations in Sri Lanka are generally well equipped and even look a bit modern until the oldest train you've ever seen arrives! Tourists love Haputale station is a stop for tourists because the region has much to visit. Besides this the train that goes to Ella and Badulla crosses beautiful landscapes and the train provides a panoramic view. It costs 750RS per person and is heated, or you can travel in second class for a fraction of the price, I think 40RS, and fans are provided. The station only sells tickets on the day of travel and sometimes the car is full of tourists. It takes an hour and a half to get here, and another hour and a half to get to Nanu Oya, where you will be 10 kilometres from Nuwara Eliya.
I think it takes five hours to get to Kandy, and a little more to get to Colombo. The train is generally late so you should add more time to be sure.
