Haputale

Haputale is a major city in the interior highlands of the island. You can find an ATM if you need money, and frequent connections to the rest of the country. To go to Nuwara Eliya, you can choose between a train to Nanu Oya, and then a bus for the last 10 kilometers, or a bus that takes about 3 hours (there are 60 kilometers!) Through Midigama. It is pretty tough to cross over the mountains. It leaves at 12h and even the tuk tuk couldn't go very fast. The best thing to do in Haputale is not to spend your time in the city, but actually around the city.
