A jewel of Scotland
This island off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands is a nature reserve of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, so access is restricted. There are lots of birds including puffins, razorbills, gulls, and many others that nest on the island. Additionally, there is some really stunning scenery as most of its coast is made up of steep cliffs and a few beaches. Once you're on the island, you can freely cross it and observe these birds, the scenery and the unique flora. To reach the island of Handa you have to take a quick ferry (speedboat) in Tarbet. The price for adults is £12.50. The island is not very large, but you can spend a lot of time on it, especially if you want to observe and photograph the birds.
It's a good idea to take the ferry early there and then back at 17:00. There is no bar or facility for visitors on the islands but there are a few toilets. No doubt this is one of the jewels of Scotland and since there is a maximum of 5000 visitors per year, it has been very well preserved.
