Beautiful Victorian house
The Haas-Lilienthal House is one of the most beautiful Victorian houses in San Francisco and one of the only ones to stay continuously open. Built in 1886 by William Haas, it escaped damages from the 1906 earthquake that devastated so much of San Francisco, and also the huge fire that followed. The inhabitants were able to stop the fire by digging trenches in the ground around the house. The house is now a complete museum. The furniture is especially admirable and really makes the place feel alive.
