The Temple

The Temple du Ha is the former chapel of the ladies of Our Lady, a religious order which also founded the niece of Montaigne. Here girls would be educated, especially girls separated from their Protestant families during the time when Protestantism was prohibited. The facade of the chapel was built by Henri Roche, sponsored by city funds, in the seventeenth century. Its baroque style with three distinct parts. During the French Revolution, religion was banned and the chapel was abandoned. After that, in 1803, Napoleon gave the Protestants, and remains the Protestant community church of the city, quite important in Bordeaux.
