Gwalior Jain Sculptures

After the tour of the grounds of the Palace of Man Singh we walked down a narrow road where we contemplated the margins on the slopes of the mountain. We saw there a number of Jain sculptures carved in stone and they came in about a hundred styles and sizes.(The largest reaches 17 meters high). Some are niches containing statues, some are cells that may have been used as a residence. According to the inscriptions, all were excavated between 1441 and 1474. It's amazing how wild vines wreaths seem to reach to the gods. You can breathe so clearly here, it is very peaceful, as you can only hear the water that comes from several different sources.

Jain Sculptures
