The admiral and governor are represented on this monument that's named Place Gourbeyre , named after the square where it's situated. It's a bronze bust that's been placed on a pedestal Gourbeyre Jean-Baptiste, who helped many people after the earthquake of 1843 and fought against slavery on the island.
