The Gotoh Museum is situated in the Setagaya area and it is not too touristy, you will not find it in the guidebooks and that is what makes it so very interesting and gives it a charming atmosphere. It was established in the year 1960 by the president of a major railway company called Keiyo Gotoh. This character was a great lover of art and, therefore, was devoted to collecting works of art from the East and, in particular, from Japan, for example crockery, tools for tea ceremonies, oriental porcelain, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings etc. However, as the Museum is rather small, the exhibits (it has more than 4000 on display in the museum) are presented in several different exhibitions that take place throughout the year in turn.
